WHAT WE DO

The North Rift Region’s economy is largely dominated by agriculture, pastoralism, logistics, education, health, sports, tourism and ICT.
The NOREB secretariat provides a one stop shop for investors and partners to get first-hand information on available investment, trade opportunities and areas of collaboration in the various sectors of the economy within the region. It is a body through which investors can interact with relevant authorities on existing opportunities and various regulatory regimes. The secretariat also facilitates the private sector to make inquiries about investment opportunities and efficiently engaging the member governments on trade, partnerships and facilitative projects.

ABOUT NOREB

The North Rift Region is one of the most breath taking and awesome natural physical phenomena on earth – Great Rift Valley. The region is located in the northern part of the Rift Valley in Kenya..

NOREB is an economic cooperation of 8 North Rift Counties (Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Samburu, Trans Nzoia, Turkana, Uasin Gishu and West Pokot). The bloc’s aim is to strengthen trade, joint investments and other desired initiatives. It seeks to appreciate the available unique resources and to jointly identify and harness opportunities for sustainable development. The eight member counties share administrative boundaries and communities along the boundaries share similar traditions and customs making it a seamless collaboration.

The region is endowed with enormous resources which have not been fully tapped to translate into economic gains for people living here. These include wildlife, minerals, conducive climatic conditions, beautiful sceneries and high agricultural potential.

The region is known for pastoralism, maize and wheat prodcution, tea prodcution, athletics, tourim potential and energy opportunities. The diverse climatic conditions enables the region to produce a wide range of products and services in the different sectors of the economy. NOREB therefore seeks to build on the competitive advantages of the unigue economies of each county through fostering intra-regional trade and taking advantage of economies of scale from member counties.
