annual eldoret city marathon

The Eldoret City Marathon is a one of its kind event that brings together elite and amateur marathoners, corporate teams, business men and women, young and old from all walks of life to compete for a common cause: Climate Action. The marathon is held within Eldoret City, the headquarters of Uasin Gishu County in Kenya. The first edition of the marathon was held in April 2018.

Beyond nurturing young and unknown talents, the Eldoret City Marathon was also conceptualized as a platform for advocating for environmental conservation.

The Eldoret City Marathon has thus facilitated discussions about climate change by adopting “climate action” as the theme of the marathon. The key objectives of the marathon are:

  • Raise the sporting profile of North-Rift region and Kenya, internationally
  • Identify and create opportunity for local talent to excel
  • Promote tourism within the North-Rift region
  • Improve tree cover locally and nationally

The Eldoret City Marathon offers two races: the 42.2 KM and the 5KM Corporate/Fun Race for both men and women.
