Agriculture is the main economic activity as the county is considered to be food secure and the bread basket of Kenya due to its large-scale maize farms. Tourist attractions in the County include Mt. Elgon National Park part of which sits on the Mount Elgon (Kenya’s Second highest mountain), Kitale Nature Conservancy and Saiwa Swamp National Park.
